1. Từ "Lithium" có nguồn gốc từ tiếng Hy Lạp "lithos" có nghĩa là đá. Nó là kim loại nhẹ nhất được biết đến với con người. Nước đặc hơn Lithium hai lần.

2. Lithium có màu trắng bạc. Mặc dù nó là một kim loại, nó rất mềm nên bạn có thể dùng dao để cắt theo đúng nghĩa đen. Kim loại này là một trong số ít kim loại có nhiệt độ nóng chảy rất thấp và nhiệt độ sôi rất cao. 

3. Rất khó để tìm thấy Lithium ở trạng thái tự do? Nó có trong đá, suối khoáng... nhưng không ở trạng thái tự do. Điều này là do thực tế nó cực kỳ không ổn định và có khả năng phản ứng rất cao. 

4. Do khả năng phản ứng cao với hầu hết mọi thứ, ngay cả nước và không khí, nó được lưu trữ trong dầu hoặc trong môi trường trơ.

5. Liti là kim loại duy nhất phản ứng được với nitơ ở điều kiện thường. Đối với nước, phản ứng của Liti được xem là ít bạo lực nhất so với các nguyên tố cùng nhóm. 

6. Nó là một trong ba nguyên tố được hình thành trong vụ nổ Big Bang. Hai nguyên tố còn lại là Hydro và Heli

7. Lịch sử phát hiện ra Lithium có từ thế kỷ thứ 2 sau CN. Soranus, một bác sĩ Ephesus, quan sát thấy rằng nước trong thị trấn của ông có tính kiềm được sử dụng để điều trị bệnh nhân mắc chứng hưng cảm và trầm cảm. Sau đó, người ta thấy rằng những vùng nước đó có hàm lượng Lithium rất cao.

8. Lithium được sử dụng để tạo ra mỡ Lithium, là loại mỡ phổ biến thứ ba được sử dụng trên toàn thế giới.

9. Các hợp chất Lithium tạo ra ngọn lửa đỏ tươi và được sử dụng để tạo ra pháo hoa, pháo sáng và các loại pháo hoa  khác.
