Cesi hydroxit là chất rắn kết tinh không màu đến vàng. Có hại cho da và mắt. Được sử dụng trong pin lưu trữ điện, nó là một hợp chất hóa học bao gồm các ion cesi và các ion hydroxit có công thức cesi hidroxit và có khả năng hút nước rất cao. Hợp chất này không được sử dụng phổ biến trong các thí nghiệm do chi phí chiết xuất cesi cao và đặc tính phản ứng của nó.
Trong tổng hợp hữu cơ, HClO chuyển anken thành clorua hiđrin. Trong sinh học, axit hipoclorơ góp phần hoạt hoá các bạch cầu trung tính bằng cách peôxi hoá các ion clorít, diệt vi khuẩn,được dùng trong xử lý nước, như là chất tiệt trùng trong các hồ bơi. Trong cung cấp nước và thực phẩm, những thiết bị đặc biệt tạo ra dung dịch HClO yếu từ nước và muối thường được sử dụng để tạo ra một lượng vừa đủ các chất diệt khuẩn an toàn hơn (do tính chất không bền của nó) nhằm xử lý bề mặt thực phẩm trước khi chế biến cũng như trong cung cấp nước
