Canxi diclorua là một muối canxi và một clorua vô cơ. Nó là chất rắn màu trắng đến trắng đục. Chìm và tan trong nước. Do đặc tính hút ẩm mạnh của nó, nên không khí hay các loại khí khác có thể cho đi qua các ống chứa clorua canxi để loại bỏ hơi ẩm. Do lượng nhiệt tỏa ra lớn trong quá trình hòa tan của nó, clorua canxi cũng được sử dụng như là hợp chất làm tan băng.
Coban(II) hidroxit có dạng bột hồng đỏ hoặc bột xanh dương, hòa tan trong axit, amonia; không hòa tan trong kiềm loãng. Nó được sử dụng nhiều như tác nhân làm khô cho sơn, vecni và mực, trong việc điều chế các hợp chất coban khác, như một chất xúc tác và trong việc sản xuất điện cực pin. Coban(II) hydroxit kết tủa như một chất rắn khi một hydroxit kim loại kiềm được thêm vào một dung dịch nước muối Co2+: Co2+ + 2NaOH → Co(OH)2 + 2Na+
