Amoni dicromat là chất rắn kết tinh màu đỏ cam tươi. Nó dễ dàng bắt lửa và cháy tạo ra một lượng lớn cặn màu xanh lá cây. Nếu đun nóng trong thùng kín, thùng có thể bị vỡ do vật liệu bị phân hủy.
