Coban(II) oxalat có dạng bột màu xám hoặc hồng (khan), bột màu da (ngậm 2 nước), không mùi, không tan trong nước, hòa tan trong acid Nó được sử dụng trong việc điều chế các chất xúc tác của coban và bột kim loại coban cho luyện kim. Coban(II) oxalat được sản xuất trong quá trình tái chế pin ion-lithi, trong đó coban thu được từ catot (LiCoO2) có thể thu được bằng cách lọc bằng axit sunfuric và sau đó kết tủa bằng amoni oxalat.
