Dùng làm nguyên liệu để điều chế butađien, isobutilen, xăng tổng hợp,... Hỗn hợp B với propan được dùng rộng rãi làm nhiên liệu; là thành phần chủ yếu của khí dầu mỏ hoá lỏng LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas). Ở Việt Nam, LPG bắt đầu được sản xuất từ năm 2000 (tại nhà máy chế biến khí Phú Mỹ, tỉnh Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu) từ khí đồng hành mỏ Bạch Hổ (xt. Khí dầu mỏ); sản lượng LPG năm 2002 khoảng 300 nghìn tấn nhưng vẫn chưa đáp ứng kịp nhu cầu tăng với tốc độ rất nhanh của thị trường trong nước.
Oxit này được sử dụng trong một số loại pin bạc-oxit, như là "bạc(II) oxit", AgO. Trong hóa học hữu cơ, oxit bạc được sử dụng làm chất oxy hoá nhẹ. Ví dụ, nó oxy hóa andehit thành các axit cacboxylic. Phản ứng như vậy thường có hiệu quả tốt nhất khi bạc oxit được điều chế tại chỗ từ bạc nitrat và kiềm hydroxit.
