Photpho pentachloride là hợp chất hóa học có công thức PCl5. Đây là một trong những clorua phosphorus quan trọng nhất, khác là PCl3 và POCl3. PCl5 tìm thấy sử dụng như một chất khử clorua. Nó là chất rắn không màu, nhạy cảm với nước và nhạy cảm với độ ẩm mặc dù các mẫu thương mại có thể có màu vàng và bị ô nhiễm bởi hydrogen chloride.
Làm thủy tinh Natri oxit là một thành phần đáng kể của thuỷ tinh và các ô kính mặc dù nó được thêm vào dưới dạng "soda" (natri cacbonat). Natri oxit không tồn tại rõ ràng trong thuỷ tinh, vì thuỷ tinh là những polyme liên kết đan xéo nhau phức tạp. Điển hình, thuỷ tinh được sản xuất ra chứa khoảng 15% natri oxit, 70% silica và 9% vôi (CaO). "Soda" natri cacbonat hoạt động như một luồng để làm giảm nhiệt độ silica nóng chảy. Thuỷ tinh soda có nhiệt độ nóng chảy thấp hơn nhiều so với thuỷ tinh thuần khiết, và có độ đàn hồi cao hơn.
