Axit bromhydric chủ yếu được sử dụng để điều chế các muối brômua, đặc biệt là kẽm brômua, canxi brômua và natri brômua. Đây cũng là một chất hữu ích trong điều chế các hợp chất brôm hữu cơ. Một số ête bị phân ly khi dùng HBr. Axit bromhydric cũng là chất xúc tác cho các phản ứng ankyl hóa và giúp tách chiết các quặng. Những hợp chất brôm hữu cơ quan trọng trong công nghiệp được điều chế từ HBr là allyl brômua, tetrabromobis(phenol) và axit brômoaxetic
Coban(II) selenua là chất rắn, dạng miếng màu đen, tan trong acid nitric, không tan trong kiềm. Độc nếu nuốt phải, hít phải, có thể gây tổn thương các cơ quan khi phơi nhiễm kéo dài hoặc lặp lại. Rất độc đối với đời sống thủy sinh với ảnh hưởng lâu dài.
