Indi(III) sunfat monohidrat dạng bột tinh thể, không mùi màu trắng xám, tan được trong nước. Nó là một muối sunfat của kim loại indi và có thể được tạo thành do phản ứng của kim loại indi, indi oxit hoặc indi cacbonat với axit sulfuric. Cần phải có một lượng dư axit mạnh, nếu không sẽ tạo thành các muối bazơ không tan. Ở dạng rắn, indi sulfat có thể ở dạng khan, hoặc ở dạng ngậm nước.
