Tricrom dicacbua tồn tại dưới dạng chất rắn tinh thể hình thoi màu xám. Nó rất cứng và chống ăn mòn. Nó cũng là một hợp chất chịu lửa nên được sử dụng nhiều như một chất phụ gia cho các hợp kim kim loại. Khi các tinh thể crom cacbua được tích hợp vào bề mặt của kim loại, nó sẽ cải thiện khả năng chống mài mòn và chống ăn mòn của kim loại, đồng thời duy trì các đặc tính này ở nhiệt độ cao.
Sắt (II) hydroxit đã được điều tra như là một chất khử độc trong vùng đất ngập nước . Một số vùng đất ngập nước có các ion selenite và selenate độc hại trong đó. Hydroxit sắt (II) làm giảm chúng thành selenium , ít độc hơn nhiều. Nó cũng được sử dụng trong pin niken-sắt .hoặc sắt hydrox.it là một hợp chất vô cơ có công thức Fe (OH) 2 .
