Coban(II) hidroxit có dạng bột hồng đỏ hoặc bột xanh dương, hòa tan trong axit, amonia; không hòa tan trong kiềm loãng. Nó được sử dụng nhiều như tác nhân làm khô cho sơn, vecni và mực, trong việc điều chế các hợp chất coban khác, như một chất xúc tác và trong việc sản xuất điện cực pin.
