Cyclopropan là một chất khí không màu, có mùi giống dầu mỏ, dễ bị bắt lửa, hơi nặng hơn không khí. Tiếp xúc với cyclopropa lỏng có thể gây tê cóng. Hơi cyclopropan có tác dụng gây mê ở nồng độ cao (trước đây được sử dụng như một loại khí gây mê).
