1,1-Dichloroethane là một chất lỏng nhờn, không màu, có mùi ngọt giống ete, ít tan trong nước. Nó dễ bay hơi ở nhiệt độ phòng và dễ cháy. Nó không xuất hiện tự nhiên trong môi trường, trước đây 1,1-dichloroethane được sử dụng làm thuốc gây mê phẫu thuật, nhưng nó không còn được sử dụng theo cách này nữa. Ngày nay nó được sử dụng chủ yếu để sản xuất các hóa chất khác, để hòa tan các chất như sơn, véc ni, chất tẩy hoàn thiện và tẩy dầu mỡ.

Canxi tellurat có công thức phân tử là CaTeO4 và khối lượng phân tử là 231,68 g/mol, khả năng hòa tan trong nước là 0,727 g/100 ml ở 20°C. Nó có thể được điều chế bằng phản ứng ở trạng thái rắn của TeO3 và CaO: CaO + TeO3 + nhiệt -> CaTeO4 TeO3 nóng chảy ở 430 °C và nhiệt độ 600 °C dùng để thúc đẩy phản ứng hoàn thành. Nó cũng có thể được hình thành theo cách tương tự bằng phản ứng ở trạng thái rắn của axit telluric: CaO (rắn) + H2TeO4 (rắn) -> CaTeO4 (rắn) + H2O (khí)
