Dichloromethane là chất lỏng không màu, có mùi ngọt, giống như ete, không hòa trộn với nước,. Không cháy ở nhiệt độ phòng. Tiếp xúc với nhiệt độ cao có thể bay ra khói clorua độc hại. Dùng làm dung môi , tẩy sơn, và để loại bỏ caffein khỏi cà phê và trà. Diclomêtan lần đầu được nhà hóa học người Pháp Henri Victor Regnault tổng hợp năm 1839, cô lập nó từ hỗn hợp của clorometan và clo được phơi sáng.
- DEA được sử dụng làm chất hoạt động bề mặt và chất ức chế ăn mòn, sử dụng để loại bỏ H2S và CO2 KHỎI KHÍ TỰ NHIÊN. - Trong nhà máy lọc dầu, DEA lỏng được sử dụng để loại bỏ khí H2S khỏi khí chua cùng với khả năng chống ăn mòn.
