Dùng làm nguyên liệu để điều chế butađien, isobutilen, xăng tổng hợp,... Hỗn hợp B với propan được dùng rộng rãi làm nhiên liệu; là thành phần chủ yếu của khí dầu mỏ hoá lỏng LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas). Ở Việt Nam, LPG bắt đầu được sản xuất từ năm 2000 (tại nhà máy chế biến khí Phú Mỹ, tỉnh Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu) từ khí đồng hành mỏ Bạch Hổ (xt. Khí dầu mỏ); sản lượng LPG năm 2002 khoảng 300 nghìn tấn nhưng vẫn chưa đáp ứng kịp nhu cầu tăng với tốc độ rất nhanh của thị trường trong nước.
Hoạt động điện hóa của vật liệu LiCrO2 phân lớp (R-3m) và NaCrO2 (R-3m) đã được nghiên cứu ở nhiệt độ phòng trong dung dịch điện phân hữu cơ không proton. LiCrO2 và NaCrO2, sở hữu cùng một polytypism và cùng một nguyên tử kim loại chuyển tiếp, đã không hoạt động và hoạt động trong 1 mol dm − 3 LiClO4 và NaClO4 propylene carbonate, tương ứng. Điện cực NaCrO2 thực hiện khả năng đảo ngược cao của ca. 120 mAh g − 1 với khả năng duy trì dung lượng thỏa đáng trong một tế bào Na.
