Beri clorua là một chất rắn không màu, hút ẩm, hòa tan tốt trong nhiều dung môi phân cực như alcohol, ether, benzen và pyridine, ít tan trong chloroform và sulfur dioxit . Nó được điều chế bằng phản ứng của kim loại với clo ở nhiệt độ cao: Be + Cl2 → BeCl2 BeCl2 cũng có thể được điều chế bằng cách khử oxit beri oxit khi có clo. BeCl2 có thể được điều chế bằng cách xử lý beri bằng hydro clorua.
Axit perxenic là chất rắn, màu trắng, nó là chất oxi hóa mạnh, có khả năng oxi hóa bạc (I) thành bạc (III), đồng (II) thành đồng (III), và mangan (II) thành pemanganat. Anion perxenat không bền trong các dung dịch axit. Các muối natri, kali và bari perxenat có thể hòa tan trong nước. Dung dịch bari perxenat được sử dụng làm nguyên liệu ban đầu để tổng hợp xenon tetroxit (XeO4) bằng cách trộn nó với axit sunfuric đặc: Ba2XeO6 (s) + 2 H2SO4 (l) → XeO4 (g) + 2 BaSO4 (s) + 2 H2O (l) Hầu hết các perxenate kim loại đều ổn định, ngoại trừ perxenate bạc, phân hủy dữ dội.
