Đồng (II) acetate đã tìm thấy một số sử dụng như một tác nhân oxy hóa trong tổng hợp hữu cơ. Trong phản ứng Eglinton, Cu 2 (OAc) 4 được sử dụng để ghép các alkynes cuối để tạo ra 1,3- diyne : Cu 2 (OAc) 4 + 2 RC≡CH → 2 CuOAc + RC≡C C≡CR + 2 HOAc Phản ứng tiến hành thông qua trung gian của acetylide đồng (I) , sau đó được oxy hóa bởi acetate đồng (II), giải phóng gốc acetylide. Một phản ứng liên quan liên quan đến acetylide đồng là sự tổng hợp của ynamine , alkynes cuối với các nhóm amin sử dụng Cu 2 (OAc) 4 . Nó đã được sử dụng cho hydroamination của acrylonitrile . Nó cũng là một tác nhân oxy hóa trong thử nghiệm của Barfoed . Nó kết hợp với asen trioxide để tạo thành acetoarsenite đồng, một loại thuốc trừ sâu và thuốc diệt nấm mạnh có tên là Paris Green hoặc Schweinfurt Green.
