Tristearin được sử dụng là chất làm cứng trong sản xuất nến và xà phòng. Trong sản xuất xà phòng, tristearin được trộn với dung dịch sodium hydroxide trong nước. Phản ứng sau đây cho ra được glycerin và natri stearat, thành phần chính trong hầu hết xà phòng: C3H5 (C17H35O2) 3 + 3 NaOH → C3H5 (OH) 3 + 3 C17H35COONa Ngoài ra, tristearin còn tham gia phản ứng thủy phân và phản ứng cộng hidro của chất béo lỏng.
Coban(II) selenua là chất rắn, dạng miếng màu đen, tan trong acid nitric, không tan trong kiềm. Độc nếu nuốt phải, hít phải, có thể gây tổn thương các cơ quan khi phơi nhiễm kéo dài hoặc lặp lại. Rất độc đối với đời sống thủy sinh với ảnh hưởng lâu dài.
