∴ Tác dụng với oxit bazơ tạo thành muối và nước.
2HCl + CuO → CuCl2 + H2O

∴ Tác dụng với kim loại tạo muối và khí hidro. (Phản ứng với các kim loại đứng trước H trong dãy hoạt động hoá học)
2HCl + Fe → FeCl2 + H2↑
HCl + Cu → không xảy ra.
